Liz and Kevin ~ Upstate New York, Summer

I shouldn’t play favorites, but I will: September is one of my favorite months for flowers. Summer flowers like zinnias and cosmos are still in bloom in an array of colors; dahlias are abundant; late summer grasses offer their whimsical texture and blooms like marigolds and asters give a nod to fall. It’s truly the best of both seasons.
When Liz and Kevin reached out about their September wedding in New York’s Hudson Valley, with a bold pinks and peaches, and accents of yellow, pale purple and soft blue, I was excited to lean into the season. Their ceremony and reception were at Foreland, in Catskill, an industrial building with clean, modern design elements that provided the perfect backdrop for a colorful, summer wedding.
At the ceremony, the aisles were adorned with small ground gardens that were moved in front of the DJ booth during the reception. Simple glass bud vases with seasonal flowers–dahlias, marigolds, cosmos, nicotiana, rudbeckia–brought color to the reception tables. For the bars and guest welcome table, small pin frog arrangements in white ceramic dishes offered floral moments without overpowering, and carried the colors of the season throughout the space.
Their sunny, late summer wedding was captured beautifully by Beth Cleveland Photography. And all of the flowers were grown by local farmers, sourced primarily from the Hudson Valley Flower Collective.
