Paolina and Jake ~ Prospect Park Boathouse, Late Spring

Photos by Gabrielle Plucknette Photography

Paolina and Jake were married in June, when spring turns to summer and the daylight stretches out late into the evening. Before their ceremony, at a nearby church, they walked around Dumbo with their wedding party, taking in the views of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges and stopping by Jane’s Carousel on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

For their personal flowers–bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages–they went with white, ivory, and green: a timeless wedding flower palette. For these florals we worked with scabiosa, ranunculus, stock, sweet pea, and orlaya (one of my favorites!), studded with classic white roses.

The Prospect Park Boathouse is a stunning venue, nestled into the eastern side of Brooklyn’s Prospect Park. With its Beaux Arts style architecture, green tiled ceiling, row of doors that let in light and offer views of the Lullwater Bridge, the Boathouse provides an intimate, sophisticated setting for weddings in the city.

At the reception bright pastel flowers in shades of blush, pink, peach, and ivory accented a single long table that invited all of the guests to sit together in one place. Guests gathered on the terrace for cocktail hour, enjoying champagne and hors d’oeuvres against the Lullwater backdrop.

On the table, peach ranunculus, apricot lisianthus and foxglove, sweet pea, blush roses, and fresh mint brought color to the tables, while allowing the beauty of the venue to shine.
