Our table at the Spring in the Heights market in early May. Spring flowers–daffodils, leucojum, ranunculus–in green and clear bud vases, and a collection of colorful garden shears.

This past weekend I was a vendor at the Spring in the Heights market, an annual fundraising event for Friends of 187. It was my first time attending a market with my own table, so of course I spent the weeks leading up to it making too many to-do lists and overthinking everything. But the checklists paid off, and I got set up at the market without having to panic-text my husband to bring me something I had left behind.

I had such a lovely time meeting and talking with so many of you who stopped by, watching everyone build their own bud vase and choose flowers for their friends and moms. I got to witness, in real time, flowers as a means of connection.

Over the last year, I’ve shifted my vision for Elderflower from focusing solely on weddings and events, to also incorporating ways to build community around flowers. And the market last weekend was such an encouraging way to enter into this space.

I’m hopeful that this was just the beginning, and I’m working behind the scenes to start offering more ways to connect with flowers and with each other: pop-ups, workshops, flower activities for kids and adults alike.

Stay tuned.

Spring Market Recap

From last Saturday’s Spring in the Heights: I loved seeing everyone design bud vases with locally-grown spring flowers—daffodils, poppies, ranunculus, leucojum. Stay posted for other events as we head into the summer, and get in touch if you want to collaborate or host a flower-pop up!

Amaranth and Friends

A look at the little flower creatures I designed with some leftover blooms last fall. Only a few ingredients, each arrangement its own distinct experience, visually tied together with a base of green amaranth.
